- On December 3, 2021, the Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. And passed from lok sabha Dec , 9 2021 and passed from rajya sabha Dec ,14 2021 The Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021, is repealed.
- The Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003, is being amended by this bill.
- The 2003 Act establishes a Central Vigilance Commission to conduct investigations into alleged violations of the 1988 Prevention of Corruption Act.
- The Director of Enforcement is appointed by the central government on the suggestion of a committee under the 2003 Act.
- The Central Vigilance Commissioner chairs this committee, which includes Secretaries from the Ministries of Home Affairs, Personnel, and Revenue.
- The Director of Enforcement is appointed for a period of two years at a minimum.
- The Director’s term may be extended up to one year at a time until the conclusion of the five-year period following his or her first appointment, according to the bill. On the Committee’s proposal, such extensions could be allowed in the public interest.
